Featured Deck Guide: Dinomist Turbo Rush

(Arcknight) Recently, “Breakers of Shadow(BOSH)” unveiled new cards that enriched the taste buds of duelists once again. New archetypes and staples were introduced as well. One of them is the newest pendulum clan called “Dinomist”

“Dinomist” is a series of Level 4 and 5 pendulum monsters that revolves around swarming through their in-built effects and by pendulum summoning. Another route to drive with is through aggro/beatdown strategy. Their field spell card transforms every “Dinomist” into an instant “Armades” and they also have a very powerful searcher (Dinomist Charge) which also recycles tributed and triggered “Dinomist” monsters. Since this is a new group with so much potential in their metallic body, I have decided to figure out how to make this deck even more consistent. That is why today, I will share some of my analysis with regards to this deck as well as a pre-constructed deck that you may enjoy upon reading all of my unprecedented rants on this article. Okay, let’s rev this up!

Overview:

Chicken Game Engine

The main focus of this deck is to summon and grind with “Cyber Dragon Infinity”. To achieve this, we need to have an ideal hand set-up on the earlier turns. That is why we included the “Chicken Turbo” engine.

This engine involves 3 cards: Terraforming, Upstart Goblin and Chicken Game. Using these cards, the chances to start the first turn with your ideal cards increases. Imagine your deck reduced to 31 cards instead of the usual 40.

Magical Abductor from CORE
Next we have “Magical Abductor” . A quite new pendulum monster that benefits our turbo engine.
This card has the ability to search for any pendulum monster as long as you remove 3 Spell counters from her. Unlike other pendulum decks, it is unnecessary for us to include “Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer” because his scale is 5 and it contradicts with our level 5 monsters. Since we can activate our turbo engine consecutively and pendulum monsters act as spell cards by the time you use them as one of your scales, this makes putting spell counters a lot easier. Hence, you can use abductor’s effect and search for any pendulum monsters you desire.

The Monsters:

As you can notice, the “Dinomist” that we put are only those who were seen on their theme Spell and Trap cards. That is: “Dinomist Rex” in the artwork of “Dinomist Charge”,  “Dinomist Pteran” and “Dinomist Ceratops” in the artwork of “Dinomist Rush”. Quite ironic but I have noticed that only these monsters are the ones usable. While “Dinomist Plesios” and “Dinomist Stegosaurus” are good additions, their effects seem situational and lackluster if we talk about the fast paced game of today.
Now, let us discuss their on- themed monsters!

Dinomist Pteran
-Although a Level 4, it can search our searcher “Dinomist Charge” which is the heart and soul of the deck. It doesn’t even require you to send the destroyed monster to the graveyard to activate its search effect so we can utilize its effect more effectively. Run 3

Dinomist Brachion & Dinomist Ceratops
-Even without using the pendulum mechanic, these two can instantly summon themselves with minimal requirements. Upon having two monsters with the same level (Insert Yuma voice here), we can xyz summon “Cyber Dragon Nova” that turns into “Cyber Dragon Infinity” without using your normal summon or pendulum mechanic. Run 3

Dinomist Rex

-Honestly, this is one of those debatable cards that I opt not to use. Aside from being a candidate of the hype train with its rarity, it doesn’t even have a way to summon itself and it badly depends on pendulum and tribute summons. But since our archetype is new and we still don’t have any idea what other cards they might have in the future, I have decided to include this card in one of our test plays.

It took some time for me to appreciate the true power of this card. While I was testing with a player that uses a “Monarch” deck, there are instances that I cannot special summon from my extra deck due to their field spell “Dominion of the legendary Monarch” blocking my way. And so, I’ve realized that the Xyz concept is too vulnerable from this card and I have to find a way to cope up with the situation. After several tries using “Dinomist Rex”, I found out that it can help in solving some of the weaknesses of this deck. This monster has the non-targeting ability to shuffle any card from hand or field to their owner’s deck by just battling. The tributed “Dinomist” will then return to your hand if you managed to have “Dinomist Charge” on your field. Run 3

The Spells:
If the battery is low, don't forget to charge!

Dinomist Charge
-As I have said awhile ago, most of the free advantages using “Dinomist Rex” can be attained using this card. Aside from searching every “Dinomist” monster you want, it can recycle your monsters that can be used in your big comeback. So I think it is very optimal to use 3.

Wavering Eyes
-Pendulum decks such as EmEm (I prefer to use the OCG acronym rather than the TCG ones) ,
Igknights and Qli are quite common nowadays and one way to take advantage is by using wavering eyes. Aside from destroying opponent’s pendulums, we can also use this card to fill our extra deck and search for any pendulum piece for our combo such as “Magical Abductor” ,”Dinomist Brachion”, ”Dinomist Pteran”,”Dinomist Rex” and “Dinomist Ceratops”.

Traps:

Dinomist Rush
-Being a trap card makes it somewhat slow but making your “Dinomist” invulnerable for a turn and searching straight from your deck suffice its flaw. In addition, if you already have a face up “Dinomist Charge” and the “Dinomist” you summon was destroyed at the end of the turn, you can just bring it back to hand as if you are using a “Reinforcement of the Army” during your opponent’s turn. Amazing card. RUN 3

Solemn Notice, Solemn Warning and Solemn Judgment
-The trio has spoken. Let us stop every play that the opponent has in mind. Technically, these cards are at bane of being the most powerful counter trap cards in history. If we combine one of these with our “Cyber Dragon Infinity”, you can stop almost every summon and effects they will do. But offcourse, using these cards requires timing. One must not use them if the life points are at risk so be careful.
Run if you’re one of those lucky guys who own Solemn Notice. (They’re either lucky, rich or persevere)

Conclusion:
Even though EmEm is still dominating the Meta, we can never say that other decks don’t have the chance to stand in the aisle. As long as you have the right build, the cards and the real passion for the game we love, time will come that we will reach the top. If EmEm is forever, we have INFINITY in our hands!!

Bye Bye!

-Arcknight
