Here's how this new Illusion card in LEGACY OF DESTRUCTION can help "Chimera" | Single Card Review

Hey everyone! ArcKnight here. It's been a while since I wrote something here due to my hectic work schedule and I hope I can find some free time in the coming weeks. Today, I'm going to talk about the latest Ultra Rare card in LEGACY OF DESTRUCTION which is the new "Nightmare Apprentice"!

Overview:

Let's have a quick recap of what this card does:

This is how you end the last UR slot! This new monster appears to be the counterpart of DUELIST NEXUS's "Nightmare Magician". DUELIST NEXUS is known to release the "Chimera" theme. 

You may probably not know but I also played "Chimera" competitively that's why I know its Pros and Cons. This is also one of the reasons why I am so hyped after seeing this new card. The things I will talk about today will also focus on how Nightmare Apprentice helps "Chimera" overall.

Below are the things I like about this card:

1. It can special summon itself and the summon doesn't start a chain (inherent).

 To special summon itself, all you have to do is to discard any card. You can use this as well as an extender or a hand trap bait. If your "Big-Winged Berfomet" is stuck in your hand, you can also use "Nightmare Apprentice" as an instant tribute fodder. :)

2. It can search any Illusion monster except itself on summon. 

This opens great possibilities with in searching "Mirror Swordsman" or "Cornfield Coatl" making the deck extra consistent ever. Just be mindful of Droll & Lock Bird. With "Nightmare Apprentice", your 1 card combo starters for "Chimera" increased from 6 (Coatl and Mirror Swordsman) to 9 which lands on the same combo.

3. It has decent stats and retains the infamous battle immunity of Illusion monsters. 

This battle immunity can save you from OTK at times.

4. It is a level 6 DARK. 

It can be combined with a level 4 LIGHT/DARK monster to summon "Chaos Angel" or rank 6 monsters such as "Beatrice the Eternal Lady." If you want to keep your friends, please don't do the "Transaction Rollback" + "A Ghost Meets Girl" combo. :v

5. This card is searchable by "Gazelle, the King of Mythical Claws."

You can search "Nightmare Magician" and use it to push for further damage or as additional material for summon of a fusion,link, synchro, or xyz.

5. The artwork is cute. 

You get inspired every time you play it. Imagine getting a playset of quarter century secret rare. :v

Summary:

LEDE is releasing in a few days and I'm glad we got a few cards that would make us want to open more boxes.

 "Nightmare Apprentice" is definitely a must have if you are playing "Chimera" or for future use in case we get another Illusion focused theme. I am curious if this card will help the "Chimera" break the OCG scene full of FIRE decks. If it does, I hope its single price won't be a "Nightmare" as the day goes by. :)
