"Breaking my SILENCE" - Top 2 "Silenforc" Deck Profile by ArcKnight - BLS Event 2023 | Tech choices and Strategies Explained!

Hey everyone! ArcKnight here~ Today, I'm going to share my full deck profile and tournament report from the recently held Black Luster Soldier (Normal Monster) Tournament 2023 Philippines where I used the newest "Silenforc" / "Voiceless Voice" deck from PHANTOM NIGHTMARE (PHNI) and placed 2nd over 95 players!

Below, I will share why I decided to use this deck in this huge event, my considerations on my tech choices and side deck, and also strategies that I did to "Silence" my opponents (Evil smirk). Kidding aside, continue reading 'til the end and let my 'Voice' be heard~

Why "Silenforc"?

As some of you who have read my previous tournament report, you know that I also used "Fire Kings". It was actually my first choice weeks ago, however, things have changed when I tested "Silenforc" and I fell in love with this deck. (literally)

You see, I am a fan of using control decks and lately, I've been annoyed by being "Silenced" myself when people chain Maxx "C" or "Nibiru, the Primal Being." "Silenforc" is a deck that can survive these threats or at least play around with it. "Droll & Lock Bird" is one counter to "Silenforc" and as I play "Silenforc" week after week (I started November), I figured out how to find a way to still land on a play when anticipating Droll. (I'll try to share them later on)

I wore white because I'm using a LIGHT deck xD

I was busy all week due to work stuff and only have Friday (Dec. 1) as my day to test things out. Turns out, "Silenforc" gave me a higher win rate over "Fire King" when I used these two decks against different match-ups.

There's no doubt that "Fire King" is a formidable opponent to face, however, I also believe that the more dominant the deck is in the meta, the more aware my opponents are in terms of taming it. I also like the fact that "Silenforc" is immune to "Gozen Match" and "There can be only one", in case I face "Runick".

Overall, the deck's strategy fits very well in my playstyle. It really has a great potential and can secure a win in a few turns with its one-card combos.

Arc, where's the sauce? (Deck Profile)

Yep, here you go!

Ratios and Tech Cards:

Let's dive into my ratios and tech choices per category:

Monsters:

  • 4 Rituals - I played two "Skull Guardian, the Silenforcing Protector" and two "Sauravis, the Ancient and the Ascended" because I feel that number is enough and I have a way to recycle them via "Silenforcing Authority" anyway. I also want to prevent myself from bricking hence that 41 deck size which reduces my chance of opening multiples by a little percentage.

  • 3 Novox, the Silenforcer Disciple - The one-card starter and the lady that makes Skull Guardian huge and powerful. It also helps in ritual summon as it covers the entire level cost by itself.

  • 3 Saffira, the Wise Silenforcer Queen - Too good! Know that it can add a ritual monster from Deck or GY so it's a nice way to recycle. It also acts as your ritual spell in the GY.

  • 3 Diviner of the Herald and 1 Trias Hierarchia - Another one card combo engine that can help search Novox. Usually, you will send Trias to your GY with "Diviner of the Herald" then use Trias to tribute Diviner. Diviner will then activate in a new chain to special summon a level 2 or lower Fairy monster which is you know who, Novox herself. Trias (lv9) and Novox (lv1) can also make "Chaos Angel" in some cases.

  • 3 Pot of Extravagance - I chose this over "Nadir Servant" as it's either the opponent negates it "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring" or I get drolled but I keep the two new cards. I also am a victim of drawing Maximus all the time which is kinda sad. This spell also helps me dig my side deck options in some way.
  • 2 Called by the Grave - To be honest, I rarely use this card. Last time I used it in my matches, it got negated anyway. I also don't win a lot of die rolls which makes it pretty lame when drawn. I'd definitely switch these two slots for something else.
  • 3 Infinite Impermanence - Versatile negation that doesn't activate "Triple Tactics Talent" or "Triple Tactics Thrust".

  • 1 Silenforcing Authority - Hands down one of the best cards of this theme. It recycles, helps you push for games, and disrupts field presence.

Extra Deck:

Nothing special here but my favorite is "Dyna Mondo". This link monster helped me in recycling my ritual monsters and removed threats on the field by shuffling them back to the deck. On the opponent's turn, you can use it to either revive (if Ritual Monster was successfully ritual summoned prior) or recycle a ritual monster in GY.

Side Deck:

Once again, ratios and choices are preferences of mine based on meta observation and "Silenforc" lists I saw in the past weeks. MVP is definitely "Summon Limit". Usually, "Super Polymerization" is used to break the "Silenforc" end board and having "Summon Limit", that means the opponent will have only one additional summon and you can stop them from there. It's kinda similar to the rationale why "Purrely" also uses "Summon Limit" in the side deck.

Tips:

Here are some of my friendly tips after using "Silenforc" for a month since release:

 1. When playing "Silenforc", always have "Droll & Lock Bird" in mind.

Nothing wrong thinking about it especially if droll can mess your combo based on your hand cards. Your combo on your turn should find a way to withstand droll by still landing on "Skull Guardian, the Silenforcing Protector" and "Novox, the Silenforcer Disciple."

You can do this by Ritual summoning Skull Guardian first and search Novox. In that scenario, even if they use Droll against you, that automatically means they lose 1 card in hand and you will have a negation the moment "Novox" is summoned. An Omni-negate with a 4100 ATK immune to targeting boss monster with "Silenforcing Barrier" is already tough to deal with.

2. Save your Silenforcing Authority unless it's really crucial to use its field removal effect.

The theme doesn't have a way to recycle their only trap. I normally use its effect to special summon "Sauravis, the Sagely Silenforcer Dragon" from the deck to help me summon "Sauravis, the Ancient and the Ascended" whenever the opponent activates a card of effect.

3. Keep in mind that Saffira, the Wise Silenforcer Queen can still be used when you get drolled

The main effect is to send a ritual spell from your Deck to your GY and the add from the deck or GY is optional.

4. If you feel that there's a threat of non-targeting removal, save Silenforcing Prayer in the GY.

With its second effect, you can special summon the theme rituals ignoring summoning conditions from hand or deck when your ritual monster leaves the field by your opponent's card effect. Plus, Novox revives itself whenever you special summon a LIGHT Ritual monster which basically brings back the lost field advantage. Also, don't get overkilled by always using the GY effect of this ritual spell. If you run out of copies because they are all banished, it'll be harder for you to recover late game. Use it only when really necessary.

Summary:

I'm really happy that I was able to represent "Silenforc" in the top cut and being the lone "Silenforc" player adds more awe to the experience. I am glad I took the risk of using this deck despite only using it thrice in regular ranking and not having enough experience using it against Fire King and RACE during actual ranking play.

I also want to give huge kudos to my mentor Spectra for helping me in play testing against several meta decks last Friday. Gaining experience against different match-ups really helped in my decision making.

"Silenforc", as a new theme in the OCG scene, really showed great potential in its early stage. It's nice to see a Ritual-centric deck getting a representation in the scene full of FIRE decks. If you like this theme too, I hope this article gives you more confidence that you can still make it despite not owning those golden "Bonfire" cards xD. Kidding aside, play decks that you feel comfortable using and enjoy playing. I hope and "pray" that this article sparks joy to all aspiring "Silenforc" players out there :)

Thanks for reading until the end! Congratulations to all the players that are part of this event!
