Surprising Tech Cards that will Work with new "Kshatri-La" | Archetype Review クシャトリラ

Few hours ago, a new archetype named Kshatri-La was revealed being the third iteration of the Visas Starfrost universe. Kshatri-La is an archetype of Psychic-type monsters with multiple attributes that can special summon themselves aiming to punish the opponent by using monster effects.

Kshatari-la Archetype

Eight cards were revealed but only 6 works directly with the theme. Since the Kshatri-La archetype is a small group at the moment, I'm going to share some of the surprising tech cards that will work with the theme. Before that, lets have an archetype review.

Three Main Monsters

All of their effect monsters have the ability to special summon themselves so long as you don't control any monsters. Each of them can add a card and has an effect that triggers when a monster effect is activated on your opponent's possession or when they declare an attack.

Their (3) effect has something to do with banishing face-down cards whether from the field, Extra Deck or from opponent's Deck. So far, we only have the EARTH, WIND, and WATER Kshatri-La monsters which means we may get more in the next waves. Right now, we are still missing the FIRE one (Unless that's already Shangri-La) and who knows if we'll get a DARK and LIGHT.

Fenrir (left), Unicorn (Middle) Ogre (Right)

Kshatrila-Fenrir

This card adds any Kshatri-La monster. If my eyes serve me right, it can add another copy of itself based on the translations here. That is insane as that means you have another back-up Kshatri-La-Fenrir ready to pressure your opponent again. The search can be done on each of your turn as well.

Stat-wise, it has a very solid 2400 ATK and DEF which even surpassed Toadally Awesome's 2200 ATK (Yes, I'm using that as a standard). When the opponent activates any monster effect, you can banish 1 face-up card face-down.

The advantage of banishing cards face-down is it won't be able to resolve its effect when it is removed from the field as it is no longer public knowledge. Since this effect activates when your opponent activates any monster effect, this can put pressure to your opponent if they will activate their effects and this includes hand traps.

Kshatri-La Unicorn

The one that is shown in the artwork of Tearalaments Scream, unicorn has a beefy 2500 ATK and 2100 DEF making it a good match for our favorite loyal companion, Dark Magician. (Insert Passionate Duelist theme).

It can search any Kshatri-La spell each of your turns. Right now, we only have 1 Spell card with is Kshatri-La Berth and for sure, we'll get more as the theme expands. The scarier part about this card is its (3) effect. You can instantly banish any important Extra Deck monster your opponent has and the best part is you get to choose which one's to banish.

I can already see this as a good side deck card as this puts good pressure to your opponent if they would want to use that monster effect as a response to your combo. Against Splights, you can easily banish the lone Toadally Awesome which will definitely tame them down. On their turn, you can banish Divine Arsenal - AA- Zeus

Kshatri-La-Ogre

This one searches Kshatri-La Trap cards. Right now, we only have Kshatri-La Prepare but for sure we'll get more as the theme expands. It has the highest stats of 2800 ATK comparable to Mega Monarchs although its (3) effect is the least interesting one.

When it declares an attack or when your opponent activates a monster effect, you can excavate the top 5 cards of your opponent's deck then you can banish 1 of them. This effect will be very impactful on combo decks or decks that revolve around 1 key monster as banishing those face-down could be game over.

Extra Deck, Spell, Trap

Right now, we only have 1 XYZ, 1 Spell and 1 Trap. Let's dive in.

Shangri-La (Left), Berth (Middle), Prepare (Right)

Kshatri-La Shangri-La

A generic rank 7 Xyz monster that protects itself and has a massive 3000 DEF! It also generates advantage every standby phase by summoning 1 Kshatri-La monster from your Deck.

It also limits your opponent's zone every time a card is banished face-down on your opponent's field. Your opponent wouldn't want to activate Pot of Desires, Pot of Extravagance and Pot of Prosperity while this card is here or else.

Kshatri-La Berth

This Spell card works as your instant revival for your non-Xyz Kshatri-La monster either banished or in the GY. Since Kshatri-La don't have a natural way to swam level 7s as you will already have a monster the time you special summon 1, this allows you to normal summon them without any tribute.

Tech cards like Chaos Hunter, Dark Simorgh, Dinowrestler Pankratops and Mist Valley Apex Avian are just some of the level 7 monsters that you can instantly normal summon without a sweat with Kshatri-La Berth. It also messes with your opponent's graveyard when they activated a Spell card.

Kshatri-La Prepare

Like Kshatri-La Berth, this card also ensures the rest of your level 7s in hand and banished can be utilized. Its second effect allows you to look at your opponent's hand and banish 1 card from it face-down when they use a trap card, perfect when they use infinite impermanence against your Shangri-La or any of the Kshatri-La monster.

Tech Cards

Here's the exciting part. I have researched and here are some of the cards that might work with this theme.

Extenders

Here are some of the level 7 monsters (or monsters that can turn to level 7 that you can use to easily summon their boss monster Kshatri-La Shangri-La or other Rank 7 Xyz monster.

  • Danger! Nessie (Extender but relies on luck)
  • Danger! Dogman (Same as above)
  • Chronicle Magician (A guaranteed level 7, a promo so.....)
  • Mecha-Phantom Beast Tetherwolf (Can turn into level 7 , You can also use Fusilier)
  • The Ascended of Thunder (A costly level 7 extender)
Extra Deck Techs:

  • Number 89 Diablosis the Mind Hacker (Can work as an alternative boss monster over Shangri-La to further banish a monster from your opponent's Extra Deck.)
  • Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack (A generic Rank 7 monster that has battle and card effect destruction immunity while you have a token. It can also destroy any card.)
  • Number 11: Big Eye (Take control a monster)
  • Number 76: Harmonizer Gradielle (Can disrupt opponent's GY)
  • Number 74: Master of Blades (A good card that protects itself from targeting effects)
  • Red Eyes Flare Metal Dragon (Works best when your opponent's LP is at brink)
  • Number 28: Titanic Moth (Can attack directly and burn LP. Another way to summon Divine Arsenal AA Zeus seamlessly)
Spell/Trap Tech

  • Psi-Impulse - (an old spell card that tributes a Psychic monster in exchange of your opponent shuffling is hand back to Deck to draw 3 new cards. When going first, this basically decreases their hand size by 2. The downside of this card is it being a win-more card and is also prone to Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. It works well with Kshaari-La as you will free up your field from monster so you can special summon a different Kshatri-La.)
  • Sacred Sword of the Seven - Reprinted in 22TP Vol. 3, this would be staple as it nets you 2 new cards and can allow you to Special summon another Kshatri-La monster from your hand by banishing the one you control.
  • Foolish Burial Goods and Ice Barrier - Foolish Burial Goods can dump Ice barrier which can search Kshatri-La Ogre that searches Kshatri-La Prepare. The drawback is that Ice Barrier will prevent you from Special Summoning non-WATER monster so it might conflict with your combos.
Summary:

A lot hasn't been told yet regarding the Kshatri-La and the theme could expand as the time goes on. With the July 2022 OCG Banlist approaching, Kshatri-La might be another choice that you may consider if the tide turns. Will they become part of the Meta soon? Let us know in the comments! Thanks for reading 'til the end!

Arcknight
