Deck Profiles

Brave Token

Yes, this is an updated Brave Token deck I piloted 11/28 at Toy Shogun where I won 1st place with a 4-0 record. Good-Stuff version has a really nice set-up going first where, unless opponent has game breaking cards on their first hand (Evenly Match, Dark Ruler No More, Super Polymerization etc.) , you almost guarantee the win provided no hand trap is standing in your way. On the flip side, hand traps like Maxx "C", Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Infinite Impermanence can easily cripple your deck's strategy if used against you.

One update that I did is switching Nemeses Corrigdor to Hop Ear Squadron in main deck.

Hop Ear Squadron, a level 2 Beast tuner monster released in Chaos Impact, has a quick effect on your opponent's main phase that lets you target 1 face-up monster you control and synchro summon any monster you want for as long as the requirement fits.

You may be wondering, why include this over Nemeses Corrigdor that can turn into Thunder Dragon Colossus? Simple, this card can save you from being defenseless after a Dark Ruler No More and Forbidden Droplet.

In addition, this card has 600 defense making it a perfect search target for Cupid Pitch! Targets included in the deck profile are Satellite Warrior and Vulcan the Divine.

Satellite Warrior is a level 10 synchro monster that only requires 1 tuner + 1 synchro monster. You can use Hop Ear Squadron on a spent Borrel Savage Dragon to summon this card. Comparing the combo where Denglong, the first of the Yangzing is summoned instead of T.G Hyper Librarian, this combo keeps the card advantage you get from T.G Hyper Librarian which you can use to dig for your hand traps and side deck cards and summoning a synchro monster on your opponent's turn could net you an additional draw with the help of T.G Hyper Librarian.

Satellite Warrior's effect can destroy cards on your opponent's field up to the number of Synchro monsters you have in your graveyard. By the time you summoned this monster, you should have Cupid Pitch and Borrel Savage Dragon sitting in your grave. This can also guarantee win if resolved during end of main phase two targeting opponent's defensive cards/backrow for game. Not only that, this card gains 1000 ATK for every card destroyed which in our scenario, can boost its ATK to 4500!

On the other hand, Vulcan the Divine is an old level 6 generic synchro monster that lets you bounce any card on your field and opponent upon summon. Summon this using your Hop Ear Squadron with your Brave Token. (Use this cautiously as this would also send your steed to the graveyard if equipped prior to the token)

Traptrix

A Traptrix deck has been spotted with a 3-1 record piloted by Glenn Llamas who placed 2nd at Toy Shogun who even faced a Brave Phantom Knight deck and won. The deck is focused heavily on summoning Traptrix Sera and using either Phantom Knight Shade Brigandine or Parallel eXceed to build a strong defense in the form of Traptrix Rafflessia and Time-thief Redoer with several Trap Hole trap cards. It also maximizes the ability of Lord of the Heavenly Prison to protect your backrow and letting you set another one for free.

One major weakness of Traptrix is its reliance on going first and having their backrow being destroyed. Going second could be solutioned by doing an OTK using Utopia Double although in today's meta, this is only guaranteed against an open field without opponent's negation or protection which is quite rare.

Virtual World

This is the Virtual World deck piloted by Leonard Bryant Clarin at Toy Shogun who found success by placing 1st. In the absence of True King of Calamities, Virtual World remained resilient with the help of Beatrice the Eternal tutoring your counter against the meta like Token Collector and Fairy Tail Snow and it's quite hard to counter due to it being a quick effect.

His build took a different route by taking the strategy into the next level. He maximized the card Dragonlark Pairen, a relatively new card released in Dawn of Majesty.

Dragonlark Pairen has an in-built protection effect so long as there is a monster special summoned from the graveyard. Yes, it also special summons any level 5 or lower monster in your graveyard. Leonard capitalized on prevention than cure by maining two of the most hated floodgates in the meta beat era: Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo and King Tiger Wanghu.

Both Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo and King Tiger Wanghu can be sent with Beatrice the Eternal in the Grave which later on can be revived by Dragonlark Pairen. Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo can prevent all special summon which the current metagame does a lot. With the prescence of Floowandereeze, King Tiger Wanghu comes to the rescue by destroying all monsters with 1400 or less ATK summoned creating a summon lock against Floowandereeze

You may say that you can just attack over Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo or King Tiger Wanghu and you're good: W R O N G. They also have Virtual World Gate - Chuche to destroy your face-up card instantly. With this, you have to ensure that your Infinite Impermanence, Forbidden Droplet, Dark Ruler No More and even Forbidden Chalice are ready or else, you know what will happen.

Summary

With us concluding November comes the fear of December and the January 2022 OCG Banlist reveal that should occur 2nd week of next month. Some are speculating that Predaplant Verte Anaconda will be forbidden to end the consistency of getting Destiny Hero Destroy Phoenix Enforcer with the help of Fusion Destiny though some say that Fusion Destiny and Destiny Hero Celestial might see a different fate.

Structured Deck: Albaz Strike (SD43) will soon release this week Dec. 4 which revealed a very strong fusion spell called  Branded Fusion which adds to the arsenal of Fusion spell Predaplant Verte Anaconda can copy. This also shows a strong tip that Predaplant Verte Anaconda may still survive another round of the banhammer to boost Albaz Strike to its full potential which also makes sense.

We're getting near the end and time will tell if this new card will impact the metagame and if the next banlist will do a complete overhaul or keep everything the way it is with minimal changes. The question is: will the snake survive or the end is near?

Thank you so much for reading this week's meta report. Special thanks to the participating shops/venues for sharing the results. For decklists, tournament schedules and other shop related inquiries , you may visit their pages here:
